2020 F1 Driver Standings: Hamilton Extends Lead with Turkish GP Win

Hamilton's Sixth Win of the Season

Lewis Hamilton extended his lead in the 2020 Formula One World Championship standings with a dominant victory at the Turkish Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver started from pole position and led every lap of the race, crossing the line ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Racing Point's Sergio Perez. This was Hamilton's sixth win of the season, and it moved him 85 points clear of Verstappen in the standings.

Verstappen Impresses in Second

Verstappen put in a strong performance to finish second in Turkey, despite starting from third on the grid. He got a good start and was able to pass Perez for second place early in the race. Verstappen then closed the gap to Hamilton, but was unable to make a serious challenge for the lead. This was Verstappen's fourth podium finish of the season.

Perez Completes Podium

Perez put in a solid drive to finish third in Turkey, his second podium finish of the season. The Mexican driver started from sixth on the grid, but was able to move up to third place by the end of the first lap. Perez then held off a challenge from Renault's Daniel Ricciardo to secure the podium finish. This was Racing Point's first podium finish since the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix.
