Joey calls for 3m-a-year marquee Walsh contract amid Broncos bargain

Reece Walsh set to become highest-paid player in Broncos history

Reece Walsh is set to become the highest-paid player in Broncos history after agreeing to terms on a five-year $55 million deal.

The fullback has been linked to a move back to Brisbane for several months, and the club has now reportedly tabled a lucrative offer that would see him join the club on a three-year deal from 2023.

According to a Courier Mail report, Walsh's Broncos contract won't break the bank and is a relatively minor upgrade on his current $400,000-a-season deal with the Warriors.

However, former Broncos great Andrew Johns believes that Walsh is worth every cent and that the club should be doing everything they can to keep him.

"Reece Walsh is a superstar in the making," Johns said.

"He's only 20 years old and he's already one of the best fullbacks in the game.

"The Broncos would be crazy to let him go."

Walsh is considered one of the most promising young players in the NRL, and he has already represented New Zealand at international level.

He is a key part of the Broncos' plans for the future, and the club will be hoping that he can help them return to premiership contention.
